laughs and cries

This week I've been on a cookin' kick. One of my new year's goals was that every time I go to the grocery store, I get ingredients for a new recipe and try it! Bc for me, the problem is- I get inspired with a recipe on pinterest and then look in my cupboards and I don't have what the recipe requires. Hence this planning ahead for creativity goal! And this week I made homemade bread (it was delicious but more of a bread snack and not the kind of bread you can easily make sandwiches out of. But it's still good to have and I also have 2 loaves in the freezer for later! I'm still on the hunt for sandwich type homemade bread.) and I also made chicken teriyaki and it gave Teriyaki Sticks a run for their money!! And Chase was super impressed (which is hard to do bc his mom is betty crocker. he isn't picky and eats whatever I cook- thankfully. But he LOVED this chicken teriyaki. wonderful!)
 Twisted delicious bread! Recipe here.

And another yum home run! recipe pinned on my pinterest. It's a crockpot recipe so that's always exciting for me!

In other news, me and Chase have also made the goal to spend more time together. We have limited time together with school and work and duties, so we have been setting time to just do casual things together. We don't need to get dressed up and go out every time we want to hang out (which we also made a goal of going on a date just the two of us twice a month.)
But we have come up with activities that we can do at our house to just create more memories. I realized (when Chase shared with me) that growing up, my family did/does a lot of casual hanging out and his family does more trips and planned outings. Both are good. So we want both.
We have been playing games (non electronical).
We have been having dares/challenges with the app QuizUp (it's awesome. except i have ended up losing a lot and having to take care of the baby all night, do the dishes, change the next poopy diaper, etc. hahahaha which really i normally do anyways so i have nothing to lose by putting it up for the challenge.)
Going out to check on the storage units together in the golf cart.
Wrestling (which never goes well because his reach and limbs are outrageous and disproportional to mine. he usually just holds my head and i'm swinging at the air. or I fake that i'm hurt and he lightens up and SHA-WHAM!!! he has been defeated!)
we have been watching movies or documentaries together. today in between work and school we watched some of the new Mitt documentary on netflix. we still can't believe he didn't win..... oh America.
reading and singing with capri.
competing on who can make capri laugh the most.
recently we competed for who can do the ugliest dance. i think chase won with that one but he did take his top off so that's cheating. hahaha wait that sounded bad. i'm not saying he looks ugly with his top off, i'm just saying that what he did when his top was off got weird!
we've been playing charades.
we've been having competitions of who can quote one movie the most or can guess the movie quote.
chase found this cute questionnaire that couples can discuss and debate over. so that's always good for chase and i- we love to debate. i don't know how many times a month my parents or his parents or other smart people we know, get phone calls to tell us which of us is right. dad got one of those calls just last night.
all of these things have really helped me feel more secure and help me with our hard times. sometimes when we fight, i get shortsighted and i remember the bad and i start thinking crazy. but with the everyday life being shared more- i am quick to count my blessings and see the good. I knew having a baby while he was still in school would be lonely at times- but these little memories have helped the atmosphere of our home for me and i'm just so excited for when Capri can participate more rather than just sitting in her bouncer lookin at us like we are nuts!
we are both social but also homebodies (and this has helped our home be filled with laughter, the spirit, and lots of memories.)

wow that got lengthy.
moving on.

Chase and I went with Cody and Irie to the UVU basketball game! Thanks Vivint for the free tix and meal passes! and a real thanks to Cody, Vivint's number one employee :)
We sat right next to the drumline (and symbols) so that wasn't too great for the baby. Luckily she fell asleep.
And Chase almost won us a free family trip to Disney Land with his paper airplane skills. But he was barely outflown. Barnacles!

Oh yeah. So we had Capri's 4 month check-up and she was doing great on her percentile curve. Still above average for her head and height. But her weight was below average which isn't a problem except for her personal curve. they just want the baby to stay on their personal curve. and her weight dipped down. She gained weight but not enough for her birth weight and 2 month check-up weight curve thingy. She doesn't seem small to me, but I'll be plumping her right up with the solids now! Rice cereal this week and then we'll add veggies next week! This is exciting for me! Welcome to my life. I think it's interesting.
I was really anxious about her shots. luckily they have multiple nurses that each hold a needle and they give her the shots at once. but her look of betrayal and hurt is torturous. and she can't breathe she is so mad at first! the screaming is over the top but then it's my job to soothe her so that's a plus! so she got through them and she was a little cranky yesterday but she doesn't even seemed phased today! So that's great.
And sidenote: I think it's adorbs how Capri looks a lot like my dad in the pic of me holding her above! She is a definite Schroedter. and we can tell Chase is the father too so no Jerry Springer for us.

And with Chase being her father, I'd assume she'd scarf down food more but alas no. She is the slowest eater known to mankind (which is prolly her weight gain problem. but i'm patient and just keep that bottle in until she drinks what I deem sufficient. her prob is that she becomes distracted so easily)
and she isn't sure about solids yet but we'll get there. She was okay with them yesterday (while skyping grandma, cay, and millie) but today when I gave her more rice cereal she was spitting it out and screaming. but i got her to swallow anyways! lovely!
Day one. Success!

Not horrible but coulda gone better. More interested in eating her bib.
And look- her hair is really starting to lay down!

And even though we've been doing great at spending a lot of family time together- this is still one of Chase's fav relaxing pastimes. and he even bought an eye thingy. he loves his naps. as do i.

and i thought it would look cute if capri had some bangs.... but her ends are curling (cross our fingers her hair will continue to be like cousin millie's when she was this age) and it was a hot mess so i resorted to pulling her hair up to fix the dried mess.
and Capri has been gracing us with a lot of blow outs lately but that's okay bc she has over 60 outfits (and i didn't buy a single one. thank you friends and families and fellow employees) for her 6-9 month stage and I love to try them all out. Even though she isn't as chubby as some, her height makes her wear older clothes!

ok this post ended with capri again. but i shall leave you with her new hobby. singing! because i've been singing to her so much lately, (ciara made me a new playlist that i've been dancing and singing too and also singing helps stall her until her next feeding if she gets hungry early) I SWEAR she is starting to sing. she did this for a good 10 minutes faced away from me. then she finally turned around and wouldn't perform any longer. that cutie patootie!

Iphone assumptions

I have no clever stories or tales to tell. I just have a bunch of pic from my iphones. So here are some things you can assume of my last week from my iphone pic overload.

I made this last week. T&T came over and enjoyed. Tonight they just brought it over to me for din din! Delicious!

This beautiful lady, Mary, had her second son on Friday! Lil Roman!! You forget how small newborns are! What a miracle!

This lil one always wakes up so happy! and sometimes sweaty! Her room is the hottest in the house. It's actually great for these cold winters! Anywho. I put her in a velcro swaddle at night and when I get her in the morning, I unvelcro her and she stretches like crazy and smiles so big!! Who wouldn't be elated when they receive their freedom? After her shots on Thursday, (AHHH. i don't want to disturb her routine until she adjusts and gets over her fever and shot pain. my mom said shots are harder on the mammas than the babies and i believe it!) I'm gonna work on taking one arm out and then the other from the swaddle.

Speaking of her shots, she is having them bc it's her 4 month appointment.
Because she turned four months yesterday!!
Oh crap she is crying! She should stay asleep. She didn't drink much during her bedtime routine- let me go stick a bottle in her mouth. brb.

She's finally growing up where she can play and enjoy her exersaucer and her jumper!!!

Her hair is doing better at laying down... when it's wet.
And she is studying PMG with her mother and preparing for her mish in 18 yrs and 8 months.
Actually, uncle grant is working on his papers and we are so eager to find out where he's going to be called!

She enjoys all of mommy and daddy's love and attention.
the first child has life so good!! hopefully we love our other children as much.

her daddy is obsessed with overalls for some reason and she's the only girl in his life that will rock them just for him! lookin fresh!

and daddy let's mommy sleep in on sundays and she spends some quality time snap chattin and preparing for church with him.

and her mommy takes way to many pics of her and she can't do anything to stop her.
well like i said, these pics have no purpose but i can't help but share.
i'm eager to see her weight and height and all those percentiles later this week :)

Chase and I are looking into buying new, legit, grown-up couch furniture. we love this recliner/ love seat sofa combo but it will take us months to save up for it so we're being patient. i will continue to sit on the ground or my rocking chair.

chase's favorite wedding present we received: the head scratcher. the bane of my existence.
he'll kill me for posting this pic and yet he posed for it so what does he expect :) he knows i have a blog addiction problem!

dad sent me this throwback pic in a text. i'm missing my texas time. this was right before we headed to the airport to leave our beloved family. we sure are a growing good lookin bunch! some people have to make a living-josh. some people are photography happy- dad. some people nap- andrew. wait. where's caleb? classic.

my time with kelly is always so cherished and important to me. she has the best stories ;) , advice, and perspective!

everyone is giving me a hard time about my duck face but that's just the way my lips are...... said every person giving a duckface ever. false. nobody has a sunken in nose and pursed out lips without surgery or a birth defect.

and last but not least. this pic sums up my new goal in life. i'm trying to relax more (per my husband's request) and take stuff off my to-do list and slow down! don't mind if i do!

my alone time

It's 10 o'clock and it's time for bed! But I..... oh no sounds on the baby monitor.... ok false alarm must have been a bad dream for a second. It kinda makes me wanna check on her. But I'm sure she's fine.
Anywho. Today was a long day but it was full of greatness.
After my morning shift, Chase suggested he take the baby out for a couple hours and I can do whatever I want all by myself. I was tempted to hang out with a friend but I thought- no, I will be alone and do nothing at all!!! It was seriously amazing. I really did a lot of nothing, but just being able to not feel guilty about that or to be wondering if Capri was going to wake up or if she needed a diaper change or what not- Chase had that covered.
I am more grateful for his gesture than for the actual alone time. Because being with Capri isn't back breaking work, but having Chase do something so nice for me was really sweet. And to have a little alone time, that was nice, too. I haven't had any pointless totally alone time where i could do whatever i want without any pressing agenda in almost four months (over a year if you count my pregnancy too bc technically capri was with me and i was never really my solo normal self). Thanks, Chasey. I really am so grateful and loved my work and nap by my lonesome! in a good way.
So he left and as I was bidding him farewell, I started talking to D (my co-worker that lives upstairs) and she's pregnant and it was really coming down outside so I told her I'd shovel the walks (even though she was on shift.
it's good to do service. and i was pregnant not so long ago and i remember how crazy hard it was for me.) so I was out there not worrying about rushing inside to hear if capri was crying, but just enjoying doing my task. yah funny to revel in shoveling.
this was the day before. but still. lots of shovelin happening.
and in a skirt no less!
i've never snow shoveled before this job and chase normally does it here, but still.
i kinda feel hardcore when i clear the walks.

anywho so i was enjoying my time. then i remembered that i forgot to remind chase to do our half of the lock checks. so i go out there and check the units and take off the overlocks that need to be removed. and then i thought- eh what the heck. i'll enjoy the fresh air and do D's half of the storage unit as well. So I'm checking her locks and her units when WHAM-O i fell HARD in the snow/ice and face planted. it was all kinds of pain. i laid for there for a good five minutes hoping someone would drive in and see me and help me bc i was afraid i broke or cracked something. but then as i started moving my limbs and joints, i realized the fall scared me more than anything and no one was going to come bc it was a blizzard and the roads were barren. so i get up. finish the lock checks. and go tell D that I did her side and what units were moved out and what not. i was really eager to help her bc she's pregnant and bc she has been such an amazing boss, trainer, and friend to me. we love to work together and hang out together. i already love her and admire so much about her. this job is a blessing and she has helped me have a great first impression and feel at home. but when i told her about my fall, i think she felt even more guilty that i went out of my way to serve her. haha but she's prego and if she woulda fallen aka face planted like i did- oh boy that woulda been bad. her hubby will do her lock checks from now on bc she almost ate it yesterday and i def ate it today.

So i came back in. rested. chit chatted with my mom on the phone. chit chatted with lauryn. and then took a nap. funny though, i kept hearing capri fussing or crying in the next room. it reminded me of when i was in the mtc and i thought my phone was vibrating in my pocket constantly. you get so used to sounds, ring tones, cries, and what not- that you start hallucinating ;)

chase came home and had homework. so caprito and i went to visit the newlywed taryn with zupas to-go while tay worked and us girls had a gay ole time (in the happy reference of course. awk since i started the phrase with "us girls" haha. moving on)! and we got this awesome video of capri rolling over for the first time (well she did it twice before this video but the first day she's rolled over i suppose) without my foot pushing her over!!! her hands are still tucked under her so that helps but this is legit! we videoed it for her daddy! this growing baby! oh i'm a proud mommy.

Well I'm getting sleepy and I promised Chase a 30 minute back massage a couple days ago and he's cashing it in now. Oh wonderful.
Some last minute pics.

Oh can you ever get tired of the thousand pics I post of this cutie?
Well maybe you do, but I don't :)

a little proof of her rapid hair growth!
1 day old. 2 months old. 4 months old.
(pretty much 4 months on the 20th)

P.s.
If you wanna watch the bachelor online but realize that the tv internet sites are charging now- the best deal i could find was buying the whole season 18 bachelor in advance on itunes for $14.99 and watching it that way. That's what me and my clan are doing on tuesday nights! fantastic. and POOR KYLIE for thinking Juan Pablo called her name at the rose ceremony. There's her 15 minutes of fame. Shame. But we all still gawked and laughed I'm sure.
Ok well i better be a masseuse now so i can go to sleep. Until next time!

a week in Texas

We had a blast in Texas! It was a crazy full house but a fun one! Having neices and nephews gets loud and it's only going to get worse/better (at the same time) for the next 10-15 years I suppose!

On Saturday we definitely just relaxed ALL DAY! And at night we barbecued, hottubbed, and played games. Had to unwind from the busy wedding day!

On Sunday we enjoyed the Sabbath and of course didn't miss this photo op! Look at those Schroedter grandchildren and with their Papa! Oh it melts my little heart!

Monday we went to the Schlitterbahn (the indoor winter part!) it was still cold but a lot of fun!
Uncle Chase taking care of Aubrey's complaints of the cold while we waited for our tickets! Adorable!

we went with the Fairwells and I just love them. In fact, I shall text Ashley and see what she's up to this weekend!

p.s. i'm having post baby body images lately but i try to embrace it and still post pics! i know this little one sleeping next to me is worth it and still need to give myself more time.
what better time than the present to count those calories and be more active! esp since i'm not nursing anymore (thanks mastitis for dwindling my milk supply. good thing capri likes formula and it settles well with her.) anywho, it's a new year so i'm thinking 5 more baby lbs and then 15 more lbs just for good measure and prepping for the next babe! My goal is 20 lbs by June 1. It's doable esp since the husb plans on 60 lbs by June 1st. Wish us luck and pray for our endurance. I think I can. I think I can. Charts are being made and a calorie sheet of our most common foods is displayed.
ok back to our texas trip. digression.

early mornings with the babes! There is no sleeping in when you're all packed into Gma and Gpa's and the little ones wake up at the crack of dawn and forget their inside voices! but it was so cute and fun, we didn't care! and i can say that bc i was one of the moms up with those babies. hahaha.

these two cousins were such big helpers with the babe!

Millie and Aubrey are the best of friends and yet also good ole frenemies. They were so cute when they played together but there was just as much tattling and tears bc Schroedter girls are competitive! Hence they both needed me to hold them at the same time! I love these neices of mine!

Tuesday we went to Logan's for dinner, had more game fun, and went to a NYE party at the Morris's. Fun stuff! So fun I forgot to take pics.
But I did have my phone in my back pocket and I forgot about it when I went to the bathroom. As I pulled my pants up, there goes my phone down.... into the unflushed toilet. LOVELY! I was horrified (mainly bc all the trip's pics were lost.) It went into a bag of rice for 24 hours and it hasn't skipped a beat since. well except for when i was texting Kell and went to charge it and a jammed piece of rice was stuck in the charging hole and it took forever for me to wedge it out without damaging the phone! oh i 'm so happy it's working. Miracle!

Wednesday we recovered from NYE and enjoyed day one of 2014.
I seriously love Sing star and Dance dance on the Xbox kinect. It's a fav to do with the fam all around and laughing at our efforts and singing and dancing along! I'm debating adding a kinect to our xbox here in Utah bc it would help me lose that weight and have fun while doing it!!

I went upstairs for a second and when I came back my sister had gotten a hold of my daughter and tortured her. She was dying to do something with her hair and Capri didn't appreciate the TIGHT pigtails. But she still looked adorable (and almost unrecognizable w/o her signature Turk hair!) and then her post hair do...... she is looking like the mayor from the Grinch. Hilarious.

we bribed Caleb (11 yrs old) to take this pic at Target. Classic Marissa and Chase. Immature and Random! We love it!

Thursday more games. Our flight was delayed two hours (luckily we found out when we were still at my parent's). And then back to Utah.
It's good to be home!! I loved having all the family together! It's such a treat and I love and miss them so much!
Oh freak nasty it's 5:38 and I have to close the Storage Unit! Back at my job and still able to blog and relax. This is the life.

T&T's wedding!!!

We were so excited to get to spend a week in Texas and relax with my fam! Away from school and work and responsibilities! And to celebrate the wedding of Taylor and Taryn of course!!
at the airport raring to go!

Capri was an angel on the plane! And a couple in front of us even commented (as we were departing off the plane in Houston), "Wow I didn't even know you had a baby sitting behind us!"
Well thank you! I'll take the credit for her miraculous timing to sleep almost the whole flight. I am the one who woke her up at 5 am for our flight! haha. And she was just as angelic on the flight home.

When we landed we went straight to the temple! We met the fam, left Capri with her Uncle Grant, and entered the House of the Lord!

It was an incredible session and a great experience to see Taryn go through for her endowments! and we had a nice Farrell/Schroedter dinner afterwards. Delicious!
There was an amazing Spirit that was felt that day and their wedding day! I really came to know that T&T were following God's plan by getting married in the right place to the right person by the right authority! I've never seen my brother look so happy and am glad he married his dream girl!
Also, I felt like a lot of past and future relatives were there in spirit and celebrating with us! Taryn's dad passed away a few years ago and I really felt his presence in the temple and out of the temple over those two days! It was powerful! Most of her family couldn't be in the temple with her but I know at least her dad was able to witness that great day!!
We are so happy to welcome Taryn in the family (officially! even though she's been one of us since day one) and so happy that Taylor is so happy!
They honeymooned in South Padre and after perusing their honeymoon pictures, I think I'll fly to Htown, drop the kiddo(s) off with the grandparents [thank you in advance for agreeing], drive down the coast, and have a second honeymoon with Chase in South Padre one day! It looked incredible and decent priced! I'm glad their day went so well and they started their lives off together on such a happy note!
And now for the cute pics!
Taryn looked stunning! Taylor looked studly! And the wedding was a hit!

 The anticipated exit!! They're married!!!!!!!!!!!
The look of pure joy!!!!

The epic first kiss. Not a great angle but I'm sure the real photographer captured it beautifully!

That's me (wide load but great calves) hugging and kissing the happy couple!

Uncle Tii is married!

I love this pic of these two brothers hugging!!!

The new growing Schroedter fam! We love you Taryn and Taylor!

The bridesmaids jumping. Not an easy task in a dress but we managed!

Snagged a pic with the couple!!

The Schroedter parents and kids plus the beautiful bride!

This pic is a tradition now. And it's not an easy feat.
And once again- mother of the year award bc I forgot to tell them to feed my child a certain amount while I was in the sealing. so the beginning pics have Capri screaming in all of them!
Oh Capri- you brave child for coming down into this family! I love you and i'm doing my best. haha. but really- I love this pic with T&T and the babies!

Proof of other kids not cooperating. Andrew is a feisty little tike who is all over the place, but he sure is cute!!
For instance, SECONDS before we were heading out the door to leave for the temple that morning, Andrew ran over and fell in the pool. Oh heavens! Good thing he didn't drown! But we were more worried about his dapper outfit being ruined! His clothes tumbled in the dryer lickity split and we were out the door. Oh the memories!

Chase had a good day (mainly bc my sister is the best masseuse he's ever met- according to him.) and I'm okay with that bc I don't want to be giving him hour long massages every day. This is him enjoying his ride to the temple. He started his day off right. Josh wanted to keep his wife's talent a secret, but no go. Chase demanded a massage every day for the rest of the week. Oh boy!

We ran to Kroger to get T&T car snacks, honeymoon snacks, and car decorations!
Then it was off to the reception. It was beautifully decorated and a lot of fun!

These two cousins danced the night away. We look over and thirty minutes later they're still spinning and twirling!

Capri was pretty good the whole day. Idk what got into her in this pic- she seemed over it. My brother said "I'm already a bad influence on her." Look closely..... or maybe you shouldn't. hahah she's positioned her hands like that since birth.

we loved the prop pic station!

and Capri was tired of being passed around all day and missing her naps.
good thing she's sleeping so well while I'm blogging right now.
the whole week she was held by one person or another and she's spoiled now.
i have my week's work cut out for me to get her back on schedule!

why did i not get a pic of the couple's first dance or cutting the cake or sparkler exit!? fail! but i saw the pics on other people's phones and cameras and take my word for it, they were cute! esp them kissing on their way to the car with the path of loved ones holding sparklers! amazing end to an amazing day!

Happy Wedding and Marriage T&T!
