the jazz, the cousins, and the temple

Playing catch up again on the last two weeks, clearing my phone, and documenting life. I put the random pics up front but they still interest me.
On a nice family walk and saw this gem..... Chase pointed out my mother's worst nightmare. She doesn't walk on grates or any sewage device!

Will I be Ciara's bridesmaid? YES!!!

Snapchats from Chase while they nap

Snapping a fellow friend at work

Okay now to the structure of the post! I went to my first jazz game this week and it was a blast. Going to a game that started at 8:30 reemphasized to me how old and mommy-of-an-infant I am! But it was still a blast and fun to hang with these people. We were up most of the game against the spurs but lost in the end! Dang!

Also we spent a couple different days with our Millie girl. On Thursday, we picked her up from preschool, got some Japanese ramen, went to Memorial park in SLC, stopped at Trader Joe's, and then to her apt complex playground! We had a blast and these girls kill me. Capri's pose? That goon!

Quite the park! And quite the weather to lounge on the blanket as the kiddos played!

Then Friday I had the genius idea to have Charlotte and Chantelle sleep over. I was a little nervous but for no reason! It was awesome and we had a blast!

The grimy gals having a tea party!

Post bath coloring and Sawyer always observing.

A little Sophia the First while mommy closed up the office.

and then off to the park for a picnic

Another tea party for dinner!
Capri always has to "cheers" and I melt!

The most foolish part of the sleepover which also sparked the sleep over was our 7:50 AM trip to see the new Provo City Center Temple! Getting all four kids and myself ready and out the door by 7:35 put my planning and organization skills to the test! But I passed. The funny part, the kids were sleeping and I had to wake them up at 7:15.... The one morning both my kids decide to sleep in together! Classic!
The crew!

And now it's Sunday.
My kids got a little cold the last week. I was hit with it last night and I hope mine lasts the three days like Capri's did! Mom's on no sleep getting sick is a crime! And I just re-read Sawyer's 4 month post. hahah sounds a little negative nancy bc it was 5:30 AM and that's where I'm at. HAHAHA. What a great week and I'm lucky to rest today to have another great week! Over and out.

Sawyer at 4 months

This cute thing is 4 months old!

He is a huge eater. He eats 4-6 oz..... every 1.75 hours..... so that's why I started adding in formula into his diet. He still eats just as much and just as often but at least it's not stressing me out as much :) I have tried stretching him longer..... but he is chase's son and needs to grow big and tall!

He is okay at sleeping. I realize now I was spoiled with Capri. A two-month old sleeping 14 hours straight...... I guess I am not the baby whisperer I thought I was and Capri was just amazing. Bc at 4 months, Sawyer is a wreck. He'll sleep for 12 hours but just needs a lot of milk when he wakes for his 5-7 minute wakings. Some nights he wakes ever 45 minutes, sometimes every 2 hours, sometimes has five hour stretches, and last night he did an 8 hour stretch..... who knows? I can't figure him out and am trying to keep my sanity. Hopefully as I add solids, then he will be more full and have less full diapers! Not even "overnite" diapers can contain this baby!

He is 15 lbs 13 oz (51%ile)
He is 27 inches (85%ile)
His head is 43 cm (81%ile)

He loves to jump in his bouncer.

He hates his infant carseat. That's 2 for 2 kids.

He cries hysterically when a noise scares him (people laughing suddenly really sends him into a panic) which is often in this household.

He is bi-polar in the sense that he is full-belly laughing one second and then throwing a fit screaming mid-laugh.

He has actually put himself to sleep the last eight times he's fallen asleep (six naps and two nights) with the "cry it out method". Aka I put him down and he whines for about 10 seconds and then is quiet. I go peek in on him a couple minutes later and he's asleep...... WOW! Considering I've rocked him to sleep the first 4 months of his life, I can't believe he's transitioned so well. Capri was a good sleeper but didn't put herself to sleep that well. I am being blessed since my nights are meh! I try not to compare but I do.
I wasn't going to do sleep training till we got back from Brazil bc I know our mothers aren't going to let him "cry it out" but hey- maybe this amazing novelty will keep up! And he's actually sleeping better at night bc when he wakes up after a couple hours, I wait a few seconds with his whimpers and he has put himself back to sleep again! This was a good idea! Between the rice cereal, heavy dutier diapers, swaddling, unswaddling, paci, no paci, temperature adjustment, and other tests- this sleep training has been the best at helping him sleep! He is self soothing!

He can pretty much throw himself out of your arms, his bumbo, his swing, etc. so it's terrifying. I haven't actually seen him throw himself out but he's gotten close.
He must be strapped in and I'm about to be done with the swing all together- even though it can be amazing! But since he's putting himself to sleep- why? haha.

He doesn't dislike "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston, if you were wondering. We've tried again and again and he just smiles.

He is a very happy baby. Even if I'm a tired zombie, he is such a happy baby and I love that the most! That's 2 for 2 kids again!

He keeps us learning and we love him so much!

I see a lot of Chase and Grant in Sawyer. And then he makes an attractive face like this..... and I know he's my son :'D

the weekend with grandma hanks

this weekend we stayed up at chase's house while his mom and sister went to LA to look for wedding material and items......... ciara's boyfriend surprised her in LA and took her disney land and officially proposed :) she was ecstatic!
(yes they were planning wedding stuff without being officially engaged. but that's how it normally goes ;) well at least for this fam)
and i am so happy nathan will be in the family. he's always been our favorite!
anyways- with everyone's schedule and people out of town- we needed to help out with grandma hanks. she's the best! it was a fun weekend with dave and us and cody for a bit!
Capri loves Grandma Hanks to the max. It's a really special bond and I love the love of kids. No prejudice. No awkwardness. Just giving and loving! It helps that Grandma is always sneaking Capri suckers and graham crackers.
The pic on the right is Grandma doing "this little piggy" as they watch AFV.
Great quote that this all reminds me of: "Love is natural. Hate is learned." -paraphrased from Nelson Mandela.

For some family history :)
I also asked her what would be her marriage advice for someone like me married to someone crazy like Chase? And she said "You always be the boss. Just be the boss!" Hahah done and done.
I love walking into her room and finding massive Chase snuggling and spooning her on her tiny bed! Oh family!

One of the nights- I was all alone with the kids and grandma. They were all asleep so I got in the jacuzzi tub with my Christmas present from Ciara from Lush- a bath bomb! hence the pink water. and  I read for my book club and had my fiber one snack! Heaven!!!!! I really loved this book and can't wait to discuss tonight at our book club!
P.S. Chase and I have a little bet going on right now. We have two months (until April 16) to lose our desired weight. I want to lose 15 lbs by then (25 total) and Chase wants to lose 40 lbs by then (80 total). And whoever wins or goes so many pounds above their goal gets a prize. A weekend getaway! Mine will be with a gf to park city, the movies, hotel, mani/pedi, etc! it's going to be awesome! Chase is going to to go LA and camp with his buddy, visit the hollywood sign, metal detect, and beach it up! I pray I win! Even though Cody is rooting against me bc he is hoping to go with Chase. So that's lovely! Anyways! I've already lost 2 lbs this week so if i keep that rate up then I'll make it to 16-18 lbs! Holla!!!

And thank you to the new snap chat filters for this entertainment!

We walked around the new RC Willey in Orem and I couldn't get these two to move away from these $3,000 recliners!

and just a cute pic to end of our good friend David with Capri. She has become infatuated!

The last two weeks of adventures

Life is good in the Anderson home! Hence!
Sure there is sleep deprivation, cold days, and stressful work...... but there is also laughter, games, spiritual lessons, and creative adventures!

A couple Sundays ago- Capri and I were all couped up. 9 o'clock church is awesome but also leaves for long afternoons. So we decided to go play in the snow before bedtime! Chase and Sawy stayed inside and Capri was in heaven in her winter wonderland!

The face of pure joy

She is obsessed with making snow angels. She asks me everyday if we can make a snow angel!

Then later in the week we had another sleepover with Millie! We found an awesome amish grocery store in Provo. It reminded me of our trip to NY so much! And great jam, cheese, and other goodies! Just in case you were wondering- there is one amish family that lives in this community- but the store is mainly to sell Amish products from PA to the non-amish of Utah and just grow the profit of their makings. I asked :)

Then after the amish store, we went to the indoor mall play area to get out some energy!

A couple days later, we also organized a fun game night at the church gym by Chase's house. Had about a 20 person turn out. Thanks Julie for watching the kiddos! No pics of the gym fun- DANG!! That doesn't take away from the blast though! Knock-out, kickball, dodgeball, basketball, pacman tag, murder in the dark, four-square, etc!!!

This Sunday, I was reflecting a lot on how hard it is to get to church and get something out of church with two young kiddos! Esp if I have to go without Chase.
Always worth it but almost always a struggle! I'm glad I was raised to know that we go to church and that the decision was made when I was young. It's not a question each Sunday. It's a given! And it's so important!

Something not as important about Sunday.... super bowl Sunday! But it was still a blast.
Family, friends, good food, healthy competitions, bets- my favorite things!

Last Saturday, Uncle Taylor and Aunt Taryn invited Capri to go sledding with them. Well they invited the whole fam but Chase was working and I opted to stay warm with Sawy. Capri had a blast!!And hot chocolate was waiting for them when they got home!

Then it was off to grandma hanks 85th birthday dinner! I didn't get pics but it's still worth mentioning!

And this Tuesday, we had the morning off and decided to follow our friend, Laura's, footsteps and go to Chinatown in SLC for Chinese New Year's! It made me think of Singapore and all my great memories in Asia! And how I can't wait to plan that trip with Chase in the future years!

Capri was obsessed with this panda! And eating Hello Pandas. That's my girl!

Sawyer was a champ as we pushed him around!

taking selfies while waiting for Daddy in the bathroom ;) hahaha
and then he comes out, catches us, and mocks us (well, mocks me).

and the last fun story for this post.... Sawyer tried baby cereal for the first time today. Hilarious how they can't keep the food in their mouth the first couple times (esp this boy with his big, pouty, lower lip!) Also, I love the bibs Chase's grandma made Sawyer for Christmas, cute and super protective! Adorable little man!
